"Future Surfer"

6x6" oil on Gessobord

This little lad is my nephew Trevor. He's gazing out upon the aqua blue waters from Asilomar Beach wondering when he'll be able to paddle out with the big fellas. He'll need to save up for a wetsuit first! Even though this water looks tropical it's not, the temperature is usually in the fifties.

Good job on this, Michael. You can feel his hesitation about getting in that cold water. Really great values in the skin tones!

I always thought California was warm and sunny until my husband was stationed at Vandenberg AFB in the 1970's. Then I found out why all the beach scenes always showed people building big bonfires!

These colors are crazy good together. Love the band in his swimsuit and his warm skin tones against all the blues.

I just love the way you simplify-it makes your paintings so powerful and this one is really great!

Michael you did a great job, as always, of creating large masses of color.
