"Two Grannys"

6x6" oil on masonite

This is my submission to the DPW Challenge for this week. In retrospect it would have been easier had I chosen objects that were different colors! Maybe I'll try it again. Anyway, this was such a fun challenge, I loved it.

I love your color in this painting. I was curious if you toned this canvas and what color it was toned.

Thanks Douglas, and thanks for all your other comments as well! I toned the canvas (gessoed hardboard) with an orange/yellow mix. I scrubbed it on and then wiped most of it off. I think the paint goes down easier. Also, you get a bit of warmth coming through when you have uncovered spots in your painting.

Beautiful color palette. Love the blues mixed in the shadows on the apples.
