"Jacks #1" - SOLD

I've wanted to paint jacks for a while but to be honest the idea made me nervous. I wondered how I'd paint something so detailed in a broad sort of way. Finally I decided the best thing to do was to just roll the jacks, stop thinking so much, pick up my brush and get to work!

Just great! I love the color of the metal of the jacks. I don't know why I am so intimidated by metals but I am. I love the contrast in the jacks and the little red ball.

Thanks so much for your comments! I painted the jacks and shadows first and to be honest they looked like blobs. This was due to the fact that I was using a fairly large brush. Anyway, then I sort of defined them using the negative spaces in the background. The final touch was putting in a few highlights and some dark accents to push up the contrast a bit. Glad you like em!

How fun!! You did a great job on what I would consider to be a very difficult subject.
