Scrolling through your posts, I see you have many different ways you mix a white in light - any secrets or tricks you can share? I'm finding myself pretty fascinated by whites in sun and shadow lately.

I'm still trying to figure it out! One thing's for sure, white in sunlight is never really white. It's usually a very light blue. It may have something to do with the sky. As for the shadows, I usually start with cobalt blue and add a bit of dioxazine purple. I try to keep the shadows light and look for reflected color both in light and the shadows. White is so hard to read when painting outdoors, it's so bright it's hard to see any color in it at all!
