"Seaside Inn"

Well this is my first 6x6" landscape and yet another submission to the DPW Challenge. I did this painting from a digital image taken while in Port Clyde, Maine this past summer. The orange/brown stroke of paint on the horizon is the Rose Cottage where we stay.

Nice shadows, they add depth to the painting.

Your work reminds me some of Tim Horn. Are you familiar with him? Great light and fresh color.

Hey Mike! This is great! I know I have mentioned to you before how much I like your landscapes! Also, did you get/understand my email about the blogger thumbnails not showing up? If not, contact me and I will fill you in because yours are not showing up on the blog rolls now of other artists like myself who have you on there.

I love this painting. When I saw it, it reminded me of a painter from Rockland, ME. It was funny to see that is was of Port Clyde - not far from Rockland. Did you get over to Monhegan Is? Anyway, Tollef Runquist at Dowling Walsh gallery. He's one of my favs.

Thanks for the comments! I do know Tim Horn, love his colors and the feel of sunlight he captures. I'm also familiar with Tollef Runquist, love his paint application and his eye for strong abstract compositions. I always stop into Dowling Walsh when in Rockland to check out the latest by Tollef, Connie Hayes and Colin Page. I've been over to Monhegan several times but actually prefer staying in Port Çlyde. Monhegan is lovely though!
